Maritime Museum will honor Bowermaster

KINGSTON, N.Y. » The Hudson River Maritime Museum has announced that Jon Bowermaster will be honored with the Roger W. Mabie Award at the 2018 Pilot Gala on Sept. 23.

The event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hutton Brickyards, 200 North St.

A writer, filmmaker and adventurer, Bowermaster is a six-time grantee of the National Geographic Expeditions Council. One of the society’s “Ocean Heroes,” his first assignment for National Geographic Magazine was documenting a 3,741 mile-crossing of Antarctica by dogsled.

Bowermaster has written a dozen books and produced/directed more than 15 documentary films.
