Cleveland Indians president Chris Antonetti isn’t sure how long Leonys Martin will be sidelined after the outfielder was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a non-baseball related condition Thursday.

Antonetti said Martin, who became sick Tuesday night and didn’t play Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins, could be out for longer than 10 days.

Antonetti wouldn’t say if Martin has been hospitalized. Manager Terry Francona said before Wednesday’s game that Martin was dealing with an intestinal issue.

Martin is batting .333 with two home runs and four RBIs in six games since being acquired from Detroit at the trade deadline. He’s hitting .255 with 11 homers and 33 RBIs overall in 84 games.

The Washington Nationals scratched outfielder Bryce Harper from Thursday’s lineup with right knee soreness.

Atlanta reliever Dan Winkler hit Harper just below the right knee in the seventh inning of the Braves’ 8-3 victory on Wednesday. Washington manager Dave Martinez said X-rays on Harper were negative.

“We thought he was going to be OK,” Martinez said. “He was out there trying to get loose this morning, and just couldn’t get loose. It was pretty swollen. So rather than him trying to play through it, we thought the best option would be having him come off the bench if we need him. “He’s going to stay in and get treatment.”

Syracuse University is changing its security policy for the Carrier Dome.

School officials announced Thursday a new clear bag policy and walkthrough metal detectors will be in place starting with the football home opener on Sept. 8.

The clear bag policy limits the size and type of bags permitted inside the dome. Vinyl or PVC bags must be no bigger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches. One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags are another option.

Small clutch bags for personal items, diaper bags, and medically necessary items also will be allowed along with one of the clear bag options. Seat cushions and seat back chairs are permitted, but they can’t have pockets, zippers or be in their own carrying bag.
