Marjorie L. Schmid, 90, of Saugerties, formerly of Rhinebeck, N.Y., died on July 22, 2018, at Ten Broeck Commons.

She was born in Utica, N.Y., on July 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Marjorie Hiteman Schmid and Garfield James Schmid. She worked for many years at Western Printing in Poughkeeps­ie.

Marjorie’s favorite pastime when she was younger was tending to and riding her horse, Pride. She loved dogs, enjoyed bowling, mowing her lawn, taking photograph­s, and watching the Mets. She had a special eye for nature photograph­y and received many ribbons at the Dutchess County Fair over the years. She assisted backstage at the Dutchess County Fair for many years and became a friend to the staff and many of the performers. She loved to make people laugh.

Survivors include cousins, Harold Talbot (Coreen), Judith Armstrong (Lee), Rhea Lou Reynolds and especially Joan Evans (Stephen); nephews, Robert Schmid (Mary) and David Schmid (Cheryl); a number of grandniece­s, grandnephe­ws, and cousins; and her loving friends Bette Anne Towler, Kathy Mellert, and Fran Jacobson.

In addition to her parents, she was predecease­d by her brother, James Crandall Schmid, and her good friend, Judith Costello.

Services and internment will be private in Utica at the convenienc­e of the family.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of SeamonWils­ey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties.
