Republican candidate for governor Marc Molinaro will hold a town hall forum on Aug. 22.

The free event is open to the public and will run from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Hotel and Conference Center at 503 Washington Ave. The Dutchess County executive will open up the discussion first with an introduction of who he is and why he is there, then will take questions from the public, according to his campaign spokeswoman Katy Delgado. She said the event may last longer than an hour to ensure questions are answered.

Attendees are encouraged to sign up for the event in advance, though drop-ins are also welcome.

Tickets can be obtained online at https://bit. ly/2MKeaCw.

Ulster County Republican Committee Chairman Roger Rascoe said the event will be set up to accommodate 200 attendees.

Molinaro has been doing town hall events around the state, Delgado said. She said he has already done events in Tioga, Albany, Buffalo,

Fulton and Staten Island.

Molinaro was elected Dutchess County executive in 2011 and re-elected in 2015. He formerly served as a state assemblyman, Dutchess County legislator, mayor of Tivoli and member of the Tivoli Village Board.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is running for a third fouryear term. He is being challenged in a Democratic primary by Cynthia Nixon. Molinaro will face the winner of the primary in November’s general election on Nov. 6.
