Woodstock British Car Show takes place Sept. 23

WHAT: Woodstock British Car Show WHEN: Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHERE: Grounds of Woodstock Playhouse, 103 Mill Hill Road, Woodstock

DETAILS: The 10th anniversar­y Woodstock British Car Show will feature more than 100 classic and modern cars. Awards, including People’s Choice, Longest Distance Traveled and best of marque, will be given out at 2 p.m. Live music will be performed, and food and refreshmen­ts will be available for purchase. Admission to spectators is free and free parking will be available. Registrati­on for car exhibitors is $15, $20 on the day of the show.

Library Forum welcomes storytelle­r on Aug. 18

WHAT: Woodstock Library Forum event WHEN: Aug. 18 from 5 to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Woodstock Library, 5 Library Lane, Woodstock

DETAILS: Storytelle­r Madelyn Folino will present a program titled “Neverthele­ss, She Persisted.” Folino will tell stories of strong women in her maternal line: An immigrant English storytelle­r, an impoverish­ed grass widow, a dreamy artist and a headstrong nurse, all born with more grit than they knew. Folino’s original stories dip into her family’s history from 1849 to the present and celebrate life events that are silly, shocking and sweet. Admission is free.
