Veronica I. Sommer, “Ronnie”, of Accord, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Ronnie was born on Feb. 7, in the Bronx; she was the daughter of the late Leonard T. and Dorothy A. (Kuhn) Rein.

After graduating high school, Ronnie received a degree in interior design. She married Thomas W. Sommer Sr. on Nov. 7, 1959, in the Bronx. Tom has since predecease­d her.

Ronnie worked as the Town Clerk, Tax Collector and Registrar for the Town of Rochester for 28 years. She was a member of the Friends of Historic Rochester and remained active in the community.

Ronnie was beautiful inside and out. She had a great sense of humor, a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and eyes that would light up a room. She enjoyed painting, making jewelry, and would never turn down a trip to the thrift store. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her sons, Thomas W. Sommer Jr. and his wife Deborah of Rosendale and Donald E. Sommer and his wife Nicole of Olivebridg­e; her siblings, Leonard T. Rein, Theresa M. Sclafani, Kathy Jean Ekus, and Timothy J. Rein; five grandchild­ren, Ashley Nicole Sommer (William Jr.) Moylan, Emily-Claire Sommer (Jason) Moylan, Dakota N. Sommer, Torre Leigh Sommer and Rachel Lauren Sommer; eight greatgrand­children, William E. Moylan III, Casey Marie Moylan, Wallace Moylan, Kristen Moylan, Taylor Moylan, Connor Moylan, Kole Moylan, and Evelyn Moylan. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In addition to her husband, Thomas, Ronnie was predecease­d by her sisters, Dorothy G. Sommer and Marian A. Jarvis.

Visiting will be held on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a celebratio­n of her life immediatel­y following at H.B. Humiston Funeral Home in Kerhonkson. Burial will take place in Whitfield Cemetery, Accord.

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made to St. Jude, Friends of Historic Rochester or Pancreatic Cancer Research.
