Charles Berryann, Sr., 82, of Mount Tremper

Charles Berryann, Sr., 82, of Rt. 212 died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at the Mountainside Care Center in Margaretville. He was born in Phoenicia, July 22, 1936; son of the late Ward and Beatrice Hamilton Berryann.

Charlie retired as a Maintenance Supervisor with the NYS DOT after many years of service. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Mt. Tremper Fire Department, and had served as First Assistant Chief, as well as having been past President of the Fire Company. He was a former member of the Shandaken Planning Board, and had been a longtime Republican Committeeman. Charlie had a great appreciation for nature, and was a skilled fisherman and hunter who taught the next generation the ways of the Catskill Mountains. He was a talented musician who played the guitar and sang country music. He had played with the Blue Ridge Ramblers for years. He took pride in caring for his property and tinkering with small engines. Most of all, his FAMILY was paramount to him in every regard.

Surviving are his daughter, Cheryl of Big Indian; sons: Charles Jr. (Debra), Kenneth (Donna), Kyle (Julie), and Alan (Jill); sisters, Alberta Shultis, and Linda Storey; and daughter-inlaw, Missy Berryann.

He was predeceased by his son, Roger, on May 23, 2018, and his siblings: Burton, Ward, Anna Mae Wilber, and Helen Curtis. 12 grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren,

and several nieces and nephews, also survive.

A Service to Celebrate the Life of Charles Berryann, Sr., will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home, 87 Main St., Phoenicia. Private burial in the Mt. Pleasant Rural Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Tremper Fire Department. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E. B.
