Novelist will speak at Woodstock Library Forum

-

WHAT: Woodstock Library Forum WHEN: Aug. 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. WHERE: Woodstock Library, 5 Library Lane, Woodstock DETAILS: Maureen Brady will read from and talk about her latest novel at the forum. Her new novel, “Getaway,” is a story of a woman from Bearsville who one day snaps and stabs her abusive husband. She makes her way to the far end of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and there attempts to start a new life and begin to heal, despite deep fear that someone will be coming to find her. It’s a story about those who touch her and those she touches, about second chances, hope and redemption, and in these days of greater awareness of sexual harassment and domestic abuse, it elucidates the harm that is often occurring around us. Admission is free. CONTACT: Call the library at (845) 679-2213 or visit woodstock.org for more information.
