George E. ‘Pops’ Felton Sr., 88, of the town of Ulster

George E. “Pops” Felton Sr., 88, of the Town of Ulster, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018.

He was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Ruby, to the late Albert and Lelia (Horton) Felton. He was married to his wife of 66 years, Marilyn (Osterhoudt) Felton. Marilyn passed away on June 1, 2017.

George served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He later worked as a mechanical engineer for IBM for many years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Plattekill Reformed Church in Mount Marion, where he served as elder and deacon, and was past president of Mount Marion Cemetery. George enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and was a life member of the Ruby Rod & Gun Club. He loved spending time at his mountain house in Claryville.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Whitmore, George Felton Jr., and his wife Michelle, and Todd Felton and his wife Kim; his siblings, Florence Hulsair and Robert Felton; and his grandchild­ren, Nicole Hesleitner and her husband John Hesleitner Jr., Brad Whitmore and his husband Gary Hulbert, as well as Jessica, Ashley, Keith, and Kevin Felton. He is also survived by his great-grandchild­ren, Ashley Gutierrez and her husband David, Colby Hesleitner, and Joel Rivera, Jr.; his great-great-granddaugh­ter, Kinsley Gutierrez; his little sweetheart, Ciara Puetx, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Kingston. A memorial service will be held at the Plattekill Reformed Church, 622 Kings Highway, Saugerties, N.Y., on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 at 1 p.m.
