Plankton, Loggerhead available for adoption
Editor’s note: These are two of the many animals available for adoption at the Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Road, town of Ulster.
Name: Plankton and Loggerhead Age: Plankton is 5-6 years old, while Loggerhead is 6-8 years old. Gender: Both male Breed: Domestic shorthairs. Plankton is a black cat with a white spot, while Loggerhead is a brown tabby. History: Plankton and Loggerhead came to the shelter in June 2013 as part of a large hoarding case. Details: Both Plankton and Loggerhead are well-behaved cats who are used to going into their own crates to eat. Each would be
good with other cats and possibly with calm dogs, and they do not need to be adopted together. Plankton is shy but generally friendly and affectionate. He is a survivor of renal failure who requires medication and a special diet, as well as subcutaneous fluids. It is possible some adopters may be able to administer the fluids themselves. Plankton is very gentle when he receives his fluids and does not fight staff at the shelter. Loggerhead is not overly affectionate and likes to spend time in the shelter’s cattery space. He is on a wet food-only diet. Loggerhead may have a urination issue when stressed. Contact: Ulster County SPCA at (845) 331-5377 or online at www.ucspca.org.
Other: During a Clear the Shelter Event on Aug. 18, six dogs, four cats and one rabbit were adopted. Of those, four were adults whose adoption fees were waived for the event.
