A man was shot multiple times on Academy Street, and four suspects were taken in custody in connection with the incident after a two-hour standoff with police.

The 36-year-old victim, whose name was not provided, was shot about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday near 82 Academy St, city police said Thursday. They said he was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious but not lifethreatening injuries. The nature of the injuries was not described.

Shortly after the shooting, four men believed to have been involved were seen running into an apartment at 62 Montgomery St., around the corner from the Academy Street house, police said.

Several police agencies converged on the area, and hostage negotiators attempted to persuade the suspects to surrender.

Police forced their way inside about 9:30 p.m. and took the four suspects into custody.

The suspects — Ouran Seignious, 27, Neimai Riviere, 28, Charles Erskine, 21, and Odell Manning, 39, all of New York City — were charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance, and Manning also was charged as an absconder from parole, police said.

All four were arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail. Seignious, Riviere and Erskine were being held in lieu of $100,000 bail; Manning was being held without bail.

Another person believed to have been involved in the shooting might have fled back to New York City, police said.
