North Carolina’s game against No. 18 UCF won’t take place Saturday while Wake Forest’s Thursday night. The Tar Heels were set to play their first home game in Chapel Hill after two road losses. But UNC announced Tuesday afternoon that the game wouldn’t be played as scheduled, though the schools will continue discussions on whether to play the game later this season.

In a statement, UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham called it “the sensible decision at this time” with Florence’s projected path carrying the storm through the state.

The Atlantic Coast Conference also announced that Wake Forest’s game against BC in Winston-Salem will now start at 5:30 p.m. to get done earlier with Florence approaching the Carolinas’ coastline Thursday and Friday.

A man’s car fell victim to celebrating University of Kentucky fans and has been replaced by a local dealership.

News outlets report Big M Superstore donated the 2005 Mazda 3 to 19-year-old Matt O’Hara, whose car was flipped Saturday. The Northern Kentucky University student was visiting friends in Lexington the night of the Wildcats’ 27-16 victory over the Florida Gators.

That win was the first against Florida in more than three decades and hundreds of fans poured into State Street to celebrate. No injuries were reported, but when O’Hara made his way back to his parking spot, he found some possessions strewn nearby. His car had been impounded.

Dealership owner Stephen Montgomery says he looked for a way to help as soon as he heard of O’Hara’s plight.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released defensive tackle Michael Bennett, clearing a roster spot for suspended defensive end Dante Fowler to rejoin the team.

Fowler was suspended for the season opener at the New York Giants following a 2017 arrest. He returned to the team Monday, but Jacksonville had until Tuesday afternoon to make a roster move.

Fowler, the third overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft, is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He had 10 sacks last season, including two in the AFC title game at New England.

Bennett has played in 14 games since the Jaguars selected him in the sixth round of the 2015 draft. He was inactive for the opener.

The Jaguars play host to New England on Sunday.
