Rondout shuts out Marlboro

Brennan O’Connell scored four goals as Rondout Valley High blanked Marlboro 5-0 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League boys soccer match.

O’Connell opened the scoring in the third minute, and Riley Stephens kicked one between the posts in the 14th minute to make it 2-0. O’Connell would find the net again in the 18th and 34th minutes to earn the hat trick and give the Ganders’ a 4-0 cushion at the half. He’d round out the scoring in the 54th-minute.

Stevens had three assists and Omelyan Shuhan contribute­d an assist in the win. Ellenville 3, Onteora 0

At Ellenville, After a closely played first half the Devils took control in the second to shut out the Eagles.

“This is the most uncomforta­ble 3-0 win I’ve ever been part of,” Ellenville coach Maxwell Mead said. “Both teams had tremendous chances, especially the first half, and I was surprised that were able to keep a clean sheet.”

Tiler Ferentheil got the Devils on the board in the 18th minute when he took a Kyle Guiney pass to the far post and slide it back across the goal into the far post.

Then in the 24th minute, Juston Guiliano collected a pass from Ferentheil 18 yards out and found space to shoot an untouched ball that ended up in the back of the net to give Ellenville a 2-0 lead they’d carry through the half.

The Devils third and final goal came in the 54th minute when Sam Davis picked off a pass and dribbled 40 yards, before assisting Alex Pauley to round the scoring.

Christian Stinehour recorded eight saves for Ellenville, while Jake Stern stopped nine shots for Onteora. Mount Academy 2, New Paltz 1

At New Paltz, Glover Winter’s 40 yard chip into the upper left corner of the net lifted the Eagles to the overtime victory.

Benson Arnold scored a goal for the (2-0) Mount and Aaron Waldner contribute­d an assist.

Joey Richards scored the (1-2) Huguenots lone goal off an Issac Cherriyot assist.

Stuart Boller registered three saves, while Drew Drewmowski and Kevin Martinez combined for three for New Paltz.
