Kingston tops Washingtonville in overtime

Faye Higgins scored a pair of goals, the second one coming in overtime, as Kingston High defeated Washingtonville, 2-1, in an Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association match on Friday.

Trailing 1-0 in the second half, Higgins scored on an assist from Avery Bennet at the 12-minute mark for the tying goal before her solo effort two minutes into the first OT gave the (2-2) Tigers the lead for good. Sophia Garelick and Sophie Sheth were cited for their defense, while Tigers’ goalie Kyla Burns made four saves in the win.

Elbita Pacheco scored for the (3-2-1) Wizards, while Rickli Lainey stopped nine shots in the loss.

Kingston travels to play Monroe-Woodury on Wednesday.
