Stage production screening free to seniors

Senior Breakfast Seminar takes place Sept. 19

The Wellness and Healthy Life Style Senior Breakfast Seminar, formerly known as the Benecare Club, will take place Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the food court in the Hudson Valley Mall, 1300 Ulster Ave., town of Ulster.

Breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m., followed by the speaker at 9 a.m.

The speaker will be Teri Osterhout-Capon, who will talk about chronic obstructiv­e pulmonary disease. All are welcome.

The Ulster County Office for the Aging will present a filmed screening of the Tony Award-winning London stage production of “An American in Paris.”

The screening will be on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St. Admission is free to seniors ages 60 and older.

Program on Medicare takes place Oct. 2

An informatio­nal seminar for seniors enrolling in Medicare will take place Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Steinberg Room of Elting Memorial Library, 93 Main St.

The seminar will be conducted by Barry Feldman. He and his firm, Wallace & Feldman, are specialist­s in Medicare-related insurances as well as group health benefits, life insurance, long-term care insurance and disability insurance. His work with Medicare extends back 12 years.

This program may be particular­ly helpful to people transition­ing to Medicare Open Enrollment and EPIC (Elderly Pharmaceut­ical Insurance Coverage). the program is free an open to all who are or will soon be eligible for Medicare.

Senior groups list meeting schedules

The Woodstock Senior Citizens Club will meet Wednesday, Sept. 19, at noon at the Community Center on Rock City Road.

The guest speaker will be Mark Brand, a forest ranger. He will talk about hiking and other issues that come up when people are in the woods.

The Hudson Valley Senior Residence Board of Managers will meet Thursday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at the residence, 80 Washington Ave.

Board members will be planning events taking place during October and November for the residents.

Promoted

• Carissa Lombardo of Jersey City, N.J., a former Saugerties resident, was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the New York Army National Guard on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Lombardo enlisted in the guard in 2012. Qualified as an intelligen­ce analyst, she deployed to Kuwait in 2016 and 2017with the 369th Sustainmen­t Brigade. She has also served in the New York Army National Guard’s 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade.

Lombardo currently serves in the guard’s Counterdru­g Task Force. Before joining the New York National Guard, she worked as a special education teacher.

Lombardo holds a master’s degree in special education and literacy from the State University of New York at Albany and a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from the State University of New York at New Paltz.

Her awards include the Meritoriou­s Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

She is the daughter of John and Linda Lombardo.
