Red Hook wins 16th straight division title

Red Hook High made it a sweet 16th consecutiv­e Mid-Hudson Athletic League Division 2 girls soccer championsh­ip Thursday as the Raiders blanked Marlboro 5-0.

The win made Red Hook 5-0 in the division, 8-0 in the league and 9-1 overall. That secured the Raiders a berth in the Oct. 15 conference finals at Wallkill.

Abby Williams assisted on goals by AJ Fuchs-White and Casey Shein in the first eight minutes to put Red Hook ahead. Samantha Riley, Kelcie Horst and Grace Berardi also scored and Cassandra LaBarbera added an assist in the win.

“We moved the ball well today, getting everyone involved in the game,” Raiders coach Jason Pavlich said.

Red Hook outshot (06, 0-7, 0-9) Marlboro 251. Raider goalkeeper Amber Serrano had one save, while Alyssa Macur made 15 for the Dukes to prevent the match from turning into a runaway.

Ellenville 1, Webutuck 0

At Ellenville, Sophie Santiago’s 20-yard blast just under the crossbar with 18 minutes left in regulation gave the (2-1-1, 3-1-2, 3-2-2) Lady Devils a big win over Webutuck.

Colleen Stevens made four saves in goal to earn the shutout. Hannah Parks stopped eight shots for (34) Webutuck.

Onteora 1, Saugerties 0

At Saugerties, Onteora made Cecilia Maillet’s goal off Emily Salem’s assist 4:14 into the match stand up to post the win over the Sawyers.

A great game in goal kept the match tight. Grace VanRoy had 10 saves to earn the shutout for Saugerties, while Onteora’s Grace Hallinan had 16.

The Sawyers had opportunit­ies. Kenzie Below bounced a shot off the far post and Mikaylin Williams had a shot that just over the crossbar in the first half. Saugerties dominated play in the second half.

New Paltz 4, Highland 0

At New Paltz, Anna McDuffie had a hat trick, Ngaio Hawkins had a goal and one assist and Fiona O’Hara, Katie Geisler and Myah Cunniff added assists to lead the (4-2, 5-3) Huguenots.

New Paltz coach Keith Walker praised his offense of O’Hara, McDuffie and Caroline Giuliani for a fast start, his defenders and goalie Vivian Kay (six saves) for keeping Highland away from the goal and the midfield of Cunniff, Maddy Garcia and Aracely Watson for controllin­g the flow with their passes.

Angelica Silva and Lea Schlosser combined for seven saves for (2-3, 4-3) Highland.

Wallkill 4, Roosevelt

At Hyde Park, Kayla Miller, Cassandra Sozlo, Kaitlyn Bordone and Bradyn Wood all scored to lead Wallkill past Roosevelt.
