Communications director leaving at end of year
Mayor Steve Noble is seeking applicants for the job of director of communications and community engagement for the city of Kingston in the wake of Megan WeissRowe announcing her resignation.
WeissRowe said in a prepared statement Monday that she’ll be leaving the $44,000-a-year post by the end of this year “to pursue other opportunities.”
The job was created by Noble in 2016, his first year in office, and Weiss-Rowe is the only person to have held it.
“It is certainly bittersweet to be leaving this position, especially at a time when so many exciting things are happening in the city of Kingston,” WeissRowe said in her statement.
Noble lauded WeissRowe’s work.
“Megan has worked tirelessly to implement our shared vision for an inclusive and accessible local government that communicates effectively with its constituents, while also helping to bring new initiatives to fruition,” Noble said in a press release. “She has worked to establish new communication systems and outreach tools to connect with residents and to ensure that my senior staff and I were informed of the evolving needs of our community members.”
The mayor’s office said the person who fills the fulltime job will be responsible “for planning and implementing various projects with a purpose of providing public information to the community and staff.”
Applicants should have excellent communication skills, a strong working knowledge of Kingston and the ability to multi-task, the mayor’s office said.
Cover letters and resumes must be received by the Kingston Civil Service Office by no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26. They should be mailed to Civil Service Office, Kingston City Hall, Ground Floor, 420 Broadway, Kingston, N,.Y. 12401.
