Fall Antiques show comes to Dutchess County Fairgrounds

-

The Fall Antiques at Rhinebeck takes place at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, 6550 Spring Brook Ave. (Route 9), Rhinebeck, on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The show is expected to feature 130 antiques and art dealers from 13 states, showcasing “different geographical tastes and styles as our dealers literally create new trends in collecting by their displays of colorful, graphic, dynamic and useful objects from furniture to fabric and ev-

erything in between,” according to event organizers in a prepared statement. “For example, Pennsylvania dealers bring traditional antique furniture such as blanket chests, Dutch Cupboards, paint decorated sets of chairs, redware pottery, quilts and stoneware. New England dealers bring highboys, decoys, Queen Anne furniture, weathervanes and samplers. Mid-Western dealers bring gameboards, glass, art pottery, trade signs, Victorian and Western themed material. While our Southern dealers capture our attention with sugar chests, sterling silver, estate jewelry, fine art, English antiques and Oriental rugs.”

The event will also feature a photography exhibit, “Marking Time,” by Ernest Shaw, an artist, photographer and sculptor whose works are in museums and private collections in the U.S. and abroad. The exhibit is free and all works are available for purchase.

Admission is $10. The event offers free parking, food trucks, complimentary magazines and antique newspapers plus complimentary merchandise pick-up service. The venue is handicap accessible. Pets are not allowed.
