Belleayre hosts fall festival this weekend

The Belleayre Fall Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Discovery Lodge, Belleayre, 181 Galli Curci Road, Highmount.

The Belleayre Fall Festival is billed as a weekend that “will be packed full of fun-filled activities for the entire family, yummy German fare food & beverages, live music, fall foliage gondola rides, craft vendors, pumpkin decorating, and more.”

Live music will be playing throughout the day on both Saturday and Sunday. The schedule includes the Ex Files from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; 4 Gun Ridge from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday; Thunder Ridge from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday; and NY Retro Rockers from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Many local craft vendors and garage sale vendors will be displaying their goods including paintings, photograph­y, hand crafted jewelry, handmade dolls, clothing & accessorie­s and much more for the duration of the festival.

The Belleayre Booth offering sky cards passes and programs will be available both days.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Department will be in attendance with K-9 Maverick showing off his skills. With his handler, Officer Anthony Maggio, “Maverick spends his days sniffing out illegal drugs, finding bad guys and missing children,” according to Belleayre’s website.

Smokey Bear will be making an appearance over the weekend.

Scenic Gondola rides will be offered. The rides to the summit of Belleayre will offer “breathtaki­ng views of the Catskill Mountains and the changing colors of the leaves.” Rides are $20, $10 for children ages 7-17 and seniors; and free for children 6 and under with a paying adult.

Bike the Ridge takes place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Take a ride on the sky ride and take a mountain bike ride across the top of the ridge. Woodstock’s Overlook Bikes will provided the bikes and hand out informatio­n.

Kids Entertainm­ent includes a bounce house, pumpkin decorating and a climbing wall throughout the festival. Face painting and balloon twisting will take place from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Centerplat­e will serving fair food and brews. The Marketplac­e Cafeteria will also be open with additional food choices.

Giant Ski and Apparel Sale will take place inside the Discovery Rental Center. And a Snowsports Job Fair will be available at the Belleayre Booth.

Admission and parking are free.
