Rondout Valley posts victory over Ellenville
Rondout bests Ellenville in Valley Jug Game
Rondout Valley improved its record to 4-2 with a 28-8 win over host Ellenville in the Valley Jug Game.
SAUGERTIES, N.Y. >> Matt Bucci threw a school-record six touchdown passes Saturday, powering Saugerties High to a 63-0 victory over Monticello in the Sawyers’ annual Mum Bowl.
The senior captain completed 9 of his 13 attempts for 223 yards. He tossed two TD passes to Sean Costello and one each to JP Monoghan, Jake Piratzky, Anthony Paff and Graeme Knisell.
Costello finished with 90 yards on three catches and Piratzky two for 70.
Jimmy Heinlein busted loose on a 70-yard touchdown run and Anthony Owen ran 15 for another for Saugerties, which had a 56-0 lead at halftime
Dan Ball and Craig Laurey each had five tackles to lead the Sawyer defense.
Saugerties improved its record
to 2-1 in Section 9, Class A, Division II and 4-2 overall.
Winless Monticello fell to 0-4 in the division and 0-6 overall.
Rondout 28, Ellenville 8
At Ellenville, Austin Wells scored on touchdown runs of 5 and 7 yards to lead Rondout Valley in the Valley Jug Game.
Jimmy Brush got the (42) Ganders going with an 8-yard TD pass to Dallas Romaguera.
Matt Kelly had a 16yard TD run and Jack Nolterieke kicked all four extra points for Rondout in this Class B contest.
New Paltz 15, East Syracuse 6
At New Paltz, Ethan Smith ran for one touchdown and passed for another to lead the (3-3) Huguenots in a non-league game.
Smith rushed 15 times for 140 yards and completed four passes for 42 yards, including a 20-yard TD to Jordan Cook.
Kenny Verney had a career game for New Paltz defensively. He made 18 tackles, had one interception and recovered one fumble.
Anthony DiMarco recorded a safety for the Hugies, who play at Goshen next Saturday, Oct. 13.
