MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. >> Kingston High girls tennis split a doubleheader with Middletown on Friday, dropping the regularly scheduled match 5-2 after besting the Middies 4-3 in the makeup of a match that was partially played on Sept. 17 before being halted by rain.

Forfeits at second singles and third doubles proved costly for the (2-8 overall, 1-6 OCIAA) Tigers in the second match against (210, 1-7) Middletown

Straight sets victories by Lila Shih Freeman over Cymone Crump in first singles and by the second doubles team of Verkonika Ratchev and Kassidy Ackerman paced Kingston.

In the first match, an easy (6-2, 6-1) second doubles victory by Ratchev and Ackerman keyed a Tigers victory despite a loss by forfeit in third doubles.
