Rhinebeck, Wallkill, Roosevelt triumph
After a closely contested first half, Rhinebeck pulled away with three goals in 15 minutes in the second to defeat Spackenkill 5-2 in a MidHudson Athletic League match Tuesday.
Kaya Binetti put a Kaya Binetti feed between the posts to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead at the half.
“The first half was a great battle, with Spackenkill goalie Maddie McCall making two or three amazing saves,” Rhinebeck Coach Matt Grande said.
The Hawks pulled away early in the second, with Libby Mensch connecting on a Libby Callahan assist to give Rhinebeck a 2-0 lead. Then within the span of 15 minutes, Elise Voorhis linked up with Caroline Voorhis to push the lead to 3-0, Ciarrah Gannon put an Esther Murray assist in between the posts to make it 4-0 and Elena Cody knocked in a header off a feed from Kaya Binnetti to round out Rhinebeck’s scoring attack.
The Spartans came to life in the last 15 minutes, with Kaitlyn Kilpert and Olivia Garbarino each scoring a goal.
“It’s so hard to contain Kaitlyn Kilpert, but we did a good job for most of the game,” Grande said.
Wallkill 7, Saugerties 1
At Saugerties, the Panthers rolled over the Sawyers.
Rosemarie Miller scored two goals, while Kayla Miller, Miah Frisbie, Savanna Suddart, Dominique Naparano and Julia Foti each contributed a goal to guide Wallkill.
Savannah Scarpa-Meade scored Saugerties’ lone goal.
Roosevelt 3, Highland 1
At Highland, Lyndsey Gander, Abby Thomas and Gianna Caprioli each scored a goal to power the Presidents over the Huskies.
Teresa Mazzella’s goal off a Teresa Mazzella feed represented Highland’s scoring.
Alana Cathcart had eight saves for Roosevelt, while Anjelica Silva also netted eight for the Huskies.
