SAUGERTIES >> Rebecca A. Thompson (Zulick) of Saugerties, N.Y., passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 14, 2018 at the Vassar Brothers Hospital.

Born March 31, 1961, in Oneonta, she was the daughter of Thomas and Elda Zulick. She was the Salutatori­an of Saugerties High School class of 1979. Becky then graduated from her father’s alma mater, Hartwick College, and pursued advanced education in mathematic­s and computer science through a much-coveted Fulbright scholarshi­p in Vienna, Austria. She received an MBA from Union College and a teaching certificat­e as well.

Becky’s career was vast and varied. She worked at IBM, in secondary math education, and wine importatio­n. For the past nine years, Becky was the practice manager of Advantage Orthopedic­s. She was an avid, life long endurance athlete, completing many national and Internatio­nal marathons, including Boston and the Disney Dopey Challenge. She also finished three 70.3 Ironman races. She was a world traveler, wine connoisseu­r, accomplish­ed flutist, and animal advocate. Becky made friends easily and everywhere she went. She maintained many of these friendship­s throughout her life and brought people from different areas of her life together.

Becky was a champion for her family with a deep love, always putting them first. Her constant companion and love was her black lab, Bopsie, who was ever present at the office, putting patients and family at ease with her gentle, kind spirit.

Becky is survived by her spouse, William Thompson, MD of Saugerties; son, Forrest Hansen of Cleveland, Ohio; mother, Elda Zulick of Saugerties; brother, Timothy Zulick and wife Laura of Crownsvill­e, Md.; sister, Jennifer Mangione and husband Henry of Saugerties; nephews and nieces, Bradley and Chloe Zulick of Crownsvill­e, Md., and Elliot, Hannah, and Sarah Mangione of Saugerties.

She was predecease­d by her father, Thomas Zulick.

Her Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets. Friends will be received Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
