Mount Academy knocks off unbeaten Burke

Mount Academy recorded its biggest win of the season so far on Monday as the Eagles knocked off unbeaten John S. Burke Catholic in three games, 25-16, 25-10, 25-19.

The triumph gave Mount a share of the Orange County Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n’s Division 4 championsh­ip as both teams finished 13-1 in the division.

Burke fell to 15-1 overall. Mount Academy is now 13-2 overall.

The Eagles got big play all around from Adela Blough (19 assists, 14 digs, four blocks), Vera Tietze (nine kills, four blocks), Cayla Boller (seven kills, 10 digs, three blocks), Kaitlyn Arnold (12 service points with three aces, 14 digs),

Brianne Moore (10 points with an ace, five digs), Skylar Arnold (eight digs, three kills, one block, two aces), Sharon HOfer (six points with an ace, six digs) and Maura Maendel (four kills, three digs).

Mount Academy is home to Spackenkil­l 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Kingston 3, Monroe 0

At Kingston, the Tigers reached double figures in wins Monday as they celebrated senior night with a 25-23, 25-14, 25-21 victory over Monroe-Woodbury.

Tori Ost (14 kills, nine digs, two aces) and Shannon Bonewit (10 kills, seven digs, one assist, 1.5 blocks) led the attack for Kingston. Tori directed the offense with 28 assists, six digs and two kills.

Kailyn Lukaszewsk­i (five kills, six digs, three aces), Grace Tremper (three aces, one kill, two digs) and Victoria Demercurio (four digs, one assist) also had good outings for the Tigers.

Kingston, which finished 7-1 and tied for the Orange County Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n’s Division I title with Pine Bush, travels to Washington­ville Wednesday.

Micaela Ross (12 digs), Jamie Waldron (six kills, three blocks), Jessica Azdler (four kills, five digs) and Jordan Ader (five assists) led (3-4, 5-7) Monroe.
