Wallkill, Rhinebeck to play for MHAL title

It will be Wallkill against Rhinebeck High for the Mid-Hudson Athletic League girls soccer championsh­ip Thursday after the teams posted semifinal victories Monday.

Wallkill defeated Red Hook 3-0, while Rhinebeck rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat Dover 4-3.

The teams meet for the title 5 p.m. Thursday at Wallkill.

Wallkill 3, Red Hook 0

Roesmarie Miller scored twice and Glynis Craner had one goal to lead (12-2) Wallkill. Kaitlin Bordone and Bradyn Wood each had an assist.

Savannah Stoddart stymied Red Hook, stopping 11 shots in goal.

Amber Serrano made four saves for Red Hook.

Rhinebeck 4, Dover 3

Esther Murray scored two goals, including the gamewinner with 10 minutes left in regulation to lift Rhinebeck into the title game.

Trailing 3-1 at the break, the Hawks fought back. Juliet Murray scored six minutes into the second and Elise Voorhis tied it at the 12th minute. That’s where it stood until Esther Murray’s winner.

Rondout 3, Ellenville 2

At Ellenville, Kendra Rubino scored off Margo Picuri’s assist with seven minutes left in the second overtime to lift Rondout Valley over the Lady Devils in the annual non-league “Kick Out Cancer” game.

Rubino set up Picuri and Brianna Kruckowy also scored to put Rondout up 2-0 at halftime.

Ellenville (6-5-2) rallied in the second half. Sydney Franza scored on Sophie Santiago’s pass, then Colleen Stevens tied with 14 minutes left in regulation on a penalty kick.

Stevens and Vanelys Malave combined for six saves for Ellenville.
