Marlboro rolls in shutout victory
Spackenkill secures berth in Class A title game with win over Onteora
KYSERIKE, N.Y. >> Sam Mongelli threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more Saturday, spearheading Marlboro High to a 41-0 Section 9, Class B victory over Rondout Valley.
Mongelli rushed four times for 72 yards, including TDs of 11 and 34 yards, and also completed 5-of-8 passes for 92 yards. He tossed a 51-yard TD to Noah Hadley and a 15-yarder to Eric Borchert.
Christian Diorio had a 31yard touchdown pass to Ameer Williams, Gio Frisenda scored on a 11-yard fumble return and Armani Banton had a twopoint conversion run for the (7-1) Dukes, who play in the Class B semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 27.
Myles Barrington had 11 tackles, Monti Walker made eight, Frisenda and Austin Laird had six apiece, Banton intercepted a pass and Connor Ramos had a sack and caused a fumble to lead the Duke defense.
Rondout fell to 4-4 on the year.
Millbrook 16, Red Hook 14
At Red Hook, Millbrook hung on to win a wild one.
The (3-5) Blazers took a 16-8 lead with less than three minutes to play, but Dylan Bayliss caught a touchdown pass with 34 seconds remaining. The (35) Raiders’ 2-point conversion bid to tie failed, as did an en-
suing onside kick and Millbrook escaped with the win.
Bayliss, who didn’t play quarterback the first three quarters because of an injury sustained last week, came in to throw a TD pass to Hayden Campalong to tie at 8-8.
Spackenkill 56, Onteora 6
At Boiceville, Spackenkill
(3-5) rolled to victory to lock up a spot in the Class C championship game against Chester. Josiah Williams ran for 262 yards and four TDs to lead the Spartans.
Owen Allison’s touchdown pass to Noah Kight accounted for (0-8) Onteora’s scoring.
Allison (seven tackles, five assists), Jake Rotella (five tackles, six assists), Elie Kuhne (five tackles, four assists, fumble recovery) and Brett Berryann (four tackles, three assists) led the Onteora defense.
