Red Hook, Wallkill earn berths in Section 9 finals

KINGSTON, N.Y. >> Wallkill and Red Hook highs punched their ticket into the Section 9 volleyball finals Friday with semifinal sweeps.

Red Hook 3, Port Jervis 0

At Red Hook, the Raiders advanced to the championship match with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-17 sweep of Port Jervis.

Red Hook plays Rondout Valley for the Class A title 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Bard College.

Mackenzie Wade had four kills and a dozen assists and Maddie Boucher nine kills and four aces to lead the Raiders.

Amber Carlton (20 assists, seven digs), Rudae Gadson (eight kills, 14 digs) and Julyanna Sauschuck (five kills, four blocks) paced Port Jervis.

Wallkill 3, Roosevelt 0

At Wallkill, the top-seeded Panthers have a date 7:30 Friday at Bard with a Cornwall, which is aiming for a 14th consecutive Class B title. Wallkill has tangled and lost to the Dragons in the finals the last two years and three of four.

Wallkill swept Roosevelt 2517, 25-21, 25-11 in the semis behind the play of Colleen Romero (12 kills, three blocks, four assists, four digs), Madison Dembroski (11 kills, 11 digs), Emma Secor (29 assists, four digs), Julia Barnett (11 digs) and Aniya Goodman (six kills, five blocks).

The Panthers are bidding for their first section crown.

Liz Miller (eight kills, 12 digs),

Gianna Felipe (12 digs, three aces), Shannon Martin Ignaffo (four kills, three blocks, five digs) and Aaliyah Williams (five blocks) paced (14-4) Roosevelt.

Roosevelt 3, Monticello 0

At Hyde Park, Roosevelt

knocked off Monticello 2520, 25-9, 25-12 in the quarterfinals.

Miller (10 kills, 13 digs, 16 service points with six aces), Ignaffo (three kills, 12 digs, 14 points with four aces), Amanda Tiedemann (23 assists) and Felipe (five kills, 10 digs) carried the Lady Presidents.

Emily LaRuffa (10 kills, one dig), Nina Mota (15 assists) and Brianna Soto (three kills, two blocks) led Monticello.
