KINGSTON >> Rose M. Eckert, 93, of N. Wilbur Ave., Kingston, passed away while in the comforting presence of her family on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018.

Rose was born in Kingston, N.Y., on Sept. 5, 1925, a daughter of the late John and Mabel (Purhamus) Guadagnola.

She was employed by New York Telephone Company, and later Verizon, for over 40 years, retiring in 1985.

She loved comedies and a good laugh, and enjoyed the feel of sunshine and wind on her face. She loved to bake and could make something out of anything. She lived all of her life helping others, putting the needs of others before her own.

Rose is survived by two daughters, Diana Rusnock of New Windsor and Sue Ellen Eckert of Kingston; one son, Vincent D. Eckert of Kingston; four grandchild­ren, Doreen M. Eckert, Christophe­r and Joseph Stokes, and Vincent J. Eckert; four greatgrand­children; and two great-greatgrand­children.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Vincent D. Eckert Jr. (1980); one daughter, Rosemary Hasbrouck; and a sister, Jane Marks.

The family will receive friends at Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, town of Esopus, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mirek Pawlaczyk, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributi­ons in Rose’s memory to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
