Section 9 selects All-Star teams

Area players were recently honored with their selections on to the Section 9 field hockey All-Star squad.

Pine Plains goalkeeper Alice Wilser was named Most Valuable Player and Rondout Valley High’s Nanette Simione was selected as Coach of the Year by the Section 9 field hockey coaches.

Wilser, along with Rondout’s Paige Bogart, Red Hook’s Ally McCrudden, Bridgie Loughlin of Kingston, Pine Bush’s Helen Deretchin and Lola Mainieri of Onteora were all named to the All-State team by the coaches.

Those players plus Rondout’s Courtney Coffey, Rieley Fitzgerald of Kingston, Mia Unverzagt of Ellenville, Pine Plains’ Jackie Povall, and Andrea Snyder and Delana Bonci of Taconic Hills were first-team All-Stars.

Making the second team were Rondout’s Julie Ruzzi and Lea Smith, Sydney Ottman and Bailey Jordan of Red Hook, Rhinebeck’s Penny Paladino, Corey

Chun of Onteora, Ellenville’s Megan Eckert, Webutuck’s Sophia Caldas, Kendall Van Vechten from Coxsackie-Athens, Pine Bush’s Melissa Torchio and Amelia Canetto of Taconic Hills.

Kingston had four players on the third team: Gannon Riley, Tori Quick, Norah Prizzi and Larkin Uhl. Also chosen to the team were Spackenkil­l’s Zohra Khan, Red Hook’s Danielle Walsh, Sophia Schoonmake­r from Rondout, Morgan Hoose of Taconic Hills, Pine Plains’ Kaitlyn Weise, Natalya Morton of Onteora, plus Webutuck’s Karlie Klingner.

The honorable mention list includes one player from each school: Meghan Murray (Pine Plains), Kailey Cook (Kingston), Elizabeth Beck (Taconic Hills), Raven Ryan (Onteora), Maddie Anderson (Red Hook), Elyssa Dewitt (Rondout), Ireland Travis (Ellenville), Emily Simmons (Webutuck), Maggie Squier (Coxsackie-Athens), Rachel Dull (Rhinebeck), Mia Donaldson (Spackenkil­l) and Gabrielle Crusco (Pine Bush).
