Zachary Joe Volk, 52, peacefully passed away on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at The Hospice of the Valley in Glendale, Ariz., after his battle with cancer.

Zachary was born May 7, 1966, in Kingston, N.Y., to the late Jacquelyne Harbeck and Chauncey Dayton Volk. He is survived by his brothers, Zarren Volk of Phoenix, Ariz., John Volk, and Wayne Volk of Bloomington, N.Y., and was predeceased by his oldest brother, Donald Volk. He is also survived by his sisters, Yvonne Pascoe and brother-in-law John Pascoe of Waddell, Ariz., in addition to Sherlyn Muller of Port Orange, Fla., and Tammy Winne of Sawkill, N.Y., along with many nieces and nephews.

Zack was a great son, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor to many. He worked for Jax Remodeling as a millwork installer. When he wasn’t working or volunteering his time, his curiosity and adventurous spirit led him to exploring nature. He was never one to sit still for long, knowing that there’s always something to uncover in the outdoors. He was very creative and had an innate talent for drawing. Zack loved science and figuring out how things work or why they didn’t work. Within his selflessness and benevolence, it is to no surprise that he wanted his body to be donated for scientific research.

A private memorial will be scheduled at a later date. The family asks that if you wish to honor Zack, please make donations to cancer research or to your local hospice. To leave a personal condolence for the family, please visit www.GJMoylanFuneralHome.com.
