Victim of Monday shooting dies
The victim of the third Poughkeepsie shooting in a span of less than a week has died, city police said Wednesday.
Jaquain Johnson, 20, of the Bronx, who was shot once in the chest about 3:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the area of Mill and Garden streets, died Tuesday afternoon at the Mid Hudson Regional Hospital, police said.
Johnson was found lying in the middle of the city’s westbound Arterial, police said at the time.
Johnson’s shooting happened soon after two others in Poughkeepsie.
On Friday, Nov. 2, three people, including one from Hyde Park, were shot in the Mansion Street-Winnikee Avenue area of the city. Two were taken to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital and one to the Vassar Brothers Medical Center, none with injuries that were deemed life-threatening.
A handgun and shell casings were recovered at the scene, but police said the victims could not provide a description of the shooter or shooters or say from where the shots came.
On Wednesday, Oct. 31, a man was shot in the leg and robbed of several thousand dollars by a person who jumped into his car on Catherine Street, police said.
No arrests in any of the shootings had been announced as of Wednesday afternoon. Anyone with information about them is asked to call city police at (845) 451-7577.
