ALL THINGS MUST PASS

- TANIA BARRICKLO — DAILY FREEMAN

Tashi Kyil monks paid a visit to the Tibetan Center at 875 state Route 28 in the town of Kingston Wednesday afternoon to perform an opening blessing ceremony for the dismantling of an existing sand mandala and preparations for the new Chenrezig Sand Mandala. The purpose of the dismantling is to bring awareness to impermanence and non-attachment. The sand was collected and taken to Falling Waters Preserve in the town of Saugerties and deposited in the Hudson River to spread Medicine Buddha’s blessings into the oceans and the world. The creation of the new mandala will continue through 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, when there will be a closing ceremony.
