Man, 23, charged with shooting his father
Timothy S. Johnson faces a felony count of reckless endangerment for an incident authorities say happened in Stockport.
STOCKPORT, N.Y. >> A 23-yearold man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his father, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Timothy S. Johnson, of 33B Pats Lane, was charged Sunday with the felony of reckless endangerment, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release. The release said Johnson shot his father, Billy Johnson, in the groin with a long rifle at the Pats Lane address, where both men live.
Sheriff’s deputies responding to a 911 call just before 5:40 p.m. found Billy Johnson, age not provided, inside the residence, the Sheriff’s Office said. Timothy Johnson was found outside the residence and “made statements that indicated that he was responsible for the shooting,” the press release stated.
Billy Johnson was taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center, where he underwent surgery Sunday night and was in stable condition Monday, the Sheriff’s Office said.
A search of the Johnson residence late Sunday turned up a 7mm-08 caliber long rifle believed to have been used in the shooting, according to the press release.
Timothy Johnson was arraigned in Stockport Town Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
