Diamond Vets capture Class B championship

The Diamond Vets swept Hickory in two to take the Kingston Recreation League women’s softball Class B Title.

In game two the Diamond Vets put up a six spot in the first and added four more in the second to go up 10-0. But while the Vets held the lead throughout. Hickory rallied late, scoring seven in the bottom of the sixth to pull back within three late, but the Vets were able to escape with the win.

Mariah Williams tripled, Michelle Williams hit four singles and drove in four runs and Melissa Hannigan doubled, hit three singles and had a RBI to lead the Vets.

Angelina Fagerstrom homered and knocked in four runs, Macenzie Fischer homered and Heather Straub doubled, hit three singles and had an RBI to lead Hickory.

In game one, The Vets broke an early 5-5 tie with two in fourth, a four more in the fifth and two more in the sixth to cruise to a 13-7 win.

Jamie Bodie doubled, hit two singles and had four RBI, and Michelle Williams doubled and had two RBI to lead the Diamond Vets.

Heather Straub hit three singles and had two RBI, and Marissa Dolan homered and had two RBI for Hickory.
