R+M notches back-to-back wins for Upper D title
R+M defeated Adams 17-4 and 1512 to win the Kingston Recreation League men’s softball Upper D Division championship.
George Frye tripled and drove in three runs, Freddy Monroe tripled, hit two singles and knocked in a run and Ronnie Burris hit four singles and had three RBI for R+M in the 15-12 victory.
A five-run first and a seven-run outburst in the second helped key the win. Adams chipped away and pulled within one heading into the sixth, but R+M scored three in the sixth to take a 15-11 lead.
Dave Wirhowski homered and drove in three runs and Kyle Chambers homered to pace Adams.
In the first game, R+M built a 15-0 lead by the second inning and never looked back in a 17-4 win.
George Frye homered, doubled, singled and knocked in five runs, Cat Bowens, hit a double, two singles and had three RBI, and Tom McNabb smacked three singles and had three RBI to lead R+M.
Zach Tyler snacked a double for Adams.
