Saugerties records win at Geisler Tournament

Liam Schoonmake­r scored 18 points as Saugerties defeated Rondout Valley 63-36 at tournament.

Saugerties High cruised past Rondout Valley 63-36 in the opening round of the Shane Geisler Memorial Tournament on Thursday.

With the win, the Sawyers face either Albany or Arlington at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the final.

Saugerties took a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 33-15 at the half. The Sawyers continued their momentum outscoring Ronodout 14-6 third to go up 47-21 to put the game out of reach.

Liam Schoonmake­r led Saugerties scoring 18 points, going 6-6 at the line and snaring six rebounds. Ryan Whitaker contribute­d 13 points and three rebounds, Nick Smith had eight points, Sean McGirr added eight points and three rebounds, and Jeremiah Brown contribute­d six rebounds.

Ellenville 67, Pine Bush 55

At Ellenville, CJ Villanueva scored 16 points to lead the Devils over the Bushmen in non-league action.

A 19-9 first an a 25-11 second put Ellenville up 44-20 at the half and a 17-12 third quarter gave the Devils a 56-37 cushion heading into the final period.

Justin Guilliano recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Ellenville. Sivon Diconcillo also had a double double with 11 points and 11 assists, while Deante Bruce contribute­d 12 for the Devils.

Chris Cain and Latrell Lemount each scored 12 points for Pine Bush.
