Saugerties records win at Geisler Tournament
Liam Schoonmaker scored 18 points as Saugerties defeated Rondout Valley 63-36 at tournament.
Saugerties High cruised past Rondout Valley 63-36 in the opening round of the Shane Geisler Memorial Tournament on Thursday.
With the win, the Sawyers face either Albany or Arlington at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the final.
Saugerties took a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 33-15 at the half. The Sawyers continued their momentum outscoring Ronodout 14-6 third to go up 47-21 to put the game out of reach.
Liam Schoonmaker led Saugerties scoring 18 points, going 6-6 at the line and snaring six rebounds. Ryan Whitaker contributed 13 points and three rebounds, Nick Smith had eight points, Sean McGirr added eight points and three rebounds, and Jeremiah Brown contributed six rebounds.
Ellenville 67, Pine Bush 55
At Ellenville, CJ Villanueva scored 16 points to lead the Devils over the Bushmen in non-league action.
A 19-9 first an a 25-11 second put Ellenville up 44-20 at the half and a 17-12 third quarter gave the Devils a 56-37 cushion heading into the final period.
Justin Guilliano recorded a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Ellenville. Sivon Diconcillo also had a double double with 11 points and 11 assists, while Deante Bruce contributed 12 for the Devils.
Chris Cain and Latrell Lemount each scored 12 points for Pine Bush.
