John ‘Jack’ Conrad, 74, of Saugerties

SAUGERTIES >> John “Jack” Conrad, 74, of Kalina Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at HealthAlli­ance Hospital, Broadway Campus, Kingston. Born Aug. 24, 1944, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late John and Doris Conrad. An area resident since 1976, he previously resided in Queens. Jack was employed for 35 years as a lineman for the New York Telephone Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served from 19621966. Jack was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Marbletown Sportsmen’s Club, was an avid golfer, and a lifelong Yankee fan. One of his favorite pastimes was taking cruises to Bermuda with his wife and their friends. In more recent years, Jack enjoyed getting together for breakfast with fellow telephone company retirees.

Jack was a dedicated family man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his wife, daughters, and grandchild­ren would always be provided for. Survivors include his loving wife, Sharon, whom he married on March 7, 1966. They proudly celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversar­y this year. Additional survivors include five daughters, Reene (Steve) Wittenbach of Topeka, Kan., Michele (Jeff) Wilber, Stacey (Mike) Hopf, and Jennifer (Eric) Nelson, all of Saugerties, and Sara (Reuben) McAuley of Austin, Texas. Twelve grandchild­ren, three great-grandchild­ren, a niece and two nephews also survive.

He was predecease­d by his sister, Doris Lavorino.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties. Interment will follow at Blue Mountain Cemetery.
