Carpentry course to be offered in fall
In response to the growing need for tradespeople skilled in historic preservation – particularly in New York State – Columbia-Greene Community College will launch a “Construction Technology” certificate program focused on preservation carpentry in fall, 2019.
Open now for enrollment, the hands-on program consists of 30-hours of coursework, and has been formally approved by the State Education Department.
It will be housed in a new Construction Technology Building on which ground was officially broken on Monday, Nov. 26.
The program will integrate preservation tactics throughout the curriculum, which includes general carpentry skills, interpretation of codes, regulations, and plans, project coordination, and more.
