Area stars honored by Section 9 coaches

Mount Academy’s Boller, Red Hook’s Boucher earn MVP honors

A total of 27 area athletes, including three each from Kingston and Mount Academy and four from Red Hook, Wallkill and Roosevelt have been named to the Section 9 volleyball coaches’ All-Stars teams.

Juniors Cayla Boller of Mount Academy and Red Hook’s Maddie Boucher were named Most Valuable Players for Class D and B, respective­ly.

Boller had been chosen to the All-Tournament team after leading the Eagles to the state final four. Boucher helped guide the Raiders to their first sectional title in seven years.

Mount Academy junior Vera Tietze and sophomore Sharon Hofer were both named to the Class D first team.

Red Hook had senior Alyssa Levine and junior Mackenzie Wade make the Class B first team and senior Irene Celaya placed on honorable mention.

Kingston, which reached the Class A finals for the third straight year, had three All-Stars. Junior Tori Boulay and senior Shannon Bonewit were chosen to the first team and senior Tori Ost to the second team.

The Class A All-Stars fea--

tured players from Wallkill, Roosevelt, New Paltz and Saugerties.

Wallkill had juniors Colleen Romero and Madison Dembroski make the first team, senior Aniya Goodman is on the second team and junior Emma Secor honorable mention.

For Roosevelt, senior Elizabeth Miller is a firstteame­r, while senior Shannon Martin Ignaffo made second team and senior Amanda Tiedeman plus freshman Gianna Felipe is honorable mention.

New Paltz had juniors Ella-Skye Franks and Jordan Giancola make second team and honorable mention, respective­ly. Saugerties seniors Kailey Collins and Hailey Mulford were both selected as honorable mention.

Rondout Valley, which reached the Class B finals, had freshman Gigi Koch plus seniors Abby DeGraw and Mackenzie Fischer get selected to the Class B first team.

Highland freshman Olivia Bell was chosen as a Class B honorable mention and Rhinebeck senior Nora Shanahan was selected to the Class C second team.
