Rhinebeck library hosts book sale
WHAT: Book sale WHEN: Friday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Starr Library, 68 W. Market St., Rhinebeck
DETAILS: The Winter Book Sale will offer opportunities to find gifts and stock up on winter reading. CDs and DVDs will be sold for $1 each. Older fiction is 50 cents each. Non-fiction and newer fiction are $3 apiece. Children’s paperbacks are four for $1. Hardcovers are $1 apiece, with young adult books 25 cents each.

Christmas presentation, workshop on Dec. 15
WHAT: Presentation and workshop
WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Staatsburg Library, 70 Old Post Road, Staatsburg
DETAILS: The library will host a presentation on Christmas in The Gilded Age and a Christmas cracker craft workshop. After a description of Christmas traditions in the Gilded Age, there will be a workshop on making a Christmas cracker, a British gift. Participants (age 12 to adult) can create a cracker to give as a gift. Crackers are pulled apart with a crack to reveal small presents inside. Participants can bring your own (small) presents to place in their cracker or use the ones provided.
