Kingston athletes win OCIAA titles
Kingston’s Samara Herzog and Jack McDonough won titles Sunday at the OCIAA indoor track and field championships.
WEST POINT, N.Y. >> Kingston High’s Samara Herzog and Jack McDonough won titles Sunday at the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association indoor track and field championships.
Herzog won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.76 seconds and also placed third in the 55 dash in 7.53.
McDonough took the weight throw with a toss of 52 feet, 10 inches. He also finished fourth in the shot put with a 40-8 heave. The top six received medals. Also getting medals were Stephanie Green, who was second in the weight throw (43-3) and fifth (34-2.5) in the shot put. Adrienne Crawford posted personal bests to place fourth in both the shot (34-2.75) and weight throw (36-3.75).
A pair of girls relay teams medalled. Maggie Noe, Kaliyah Lindsay, Vanessa Hill and Marine Nimblette combined to place fifth (10:31.67) in the 3200. Noe, Nimblette, Hill and Thea Kovaleski teamed up for sixth (4:34.50) in the 1600.
The Tigers, who had 20 PRs in the meet, saw the girls tied for fifth with 39 points and the boys take ninth with 14.
