Richard M. Kelly, 63, of Rosendale
Richard M. Kelly, 63, of Rosendale, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.
Born Dec. 23, 1955, in Kingston, he was the son of Mary Ann (Haber) Decker and the late Howard Kelly.
Richard was employed by Empire Merchants North in Coxsackie. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Lake Katrine Rod and Gun Club. He was also a member of the Kingston Bowling Association, where he bowled in the Monday Night Mid-City League; was a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders; and was known to friends as the “World’s Tallest Leprechaun.”
Surviving in addition to his mother are his siblings, Michael Kelly and his wife Elizabeth, Maureen Kelly (Theodore
Morrow), and Mary Ellen Burham and her husband Timothy; his brothers-in-law, Tim Dean and Ron Foster; and his godsons, Eli Burham and Jarrod Dean. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, greatnieces, great-nephews, and cousins also survive.
His sisters, Kathryn Foster and Justine Dean, both died previously. His beloved black Labradors, Samantha and Memo, also predeceased him.
Cremation and memorial arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh. com). Memorial visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Esopus. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
