Area business people ‘On the Move’

Nicolas Dyer of Cairo has been named athletic director for Columbia-Greene Community College.

Dyer has worked within the C-GCC Athletic Department since 2010, initially as its assistant baseball coach. He assumed the head baseball coach position in 2013, remaining at the helm of the team until 2018, while simultaneo­usly serving as the college’s Assistant Director of Athletics.

Within his new role, Dyer is responsibl­e for overseeing the C-GCC Athletic Department and its five varsity teams: men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer; directing the Ath- letic and Activities Department work plans, and management of both indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, among other duties. He also serves as chair of the college’s Athletic Taskforce.

A graduate of Salem Internatio­nal University in Salem, W.Va., Dyer holds a bachelor of science degree in business management with a concentrat­ion in sports management. His career has also included stints as assistant athletic trainer, assistant bseball coach, assistant athletic director of sports informatio­n and compliance at SIU; pitching coach at Southern Vermont College of Bennington, Vt. (now closed), and as a security officer for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

••• John Bonavita-Goldman of Kingston has joined the board of directors of HealthAlli­ance of the Hudson Valley.

Bonavita-Goldman has also served on the HealthAlli­ance Foundation board for three years and will continue in that role.

He also serves on the Ulster Community College Foundation board, the Ulster County Planning Board and the Kingston Zoning Board of Appeals.

A retired board-certified radiologis­t specializi­ng in abdominal and thoracic imaging, Bonavita-Goldman was most recently an assistant professor of radiology at New York University School of Medicine, teaching at NYU Langone Medical Center, and co-director of the NYU Langone Faculty Radiology Practice. He earlier taught ultrasound to radiology residents, fellows and rotating medical students at the University of Pennsylvan­ia School of Medicine, now the Perelman School of Medicine. He was additional­ly the school’s section chief of emergency radiology.

Bonavita-Goldman earned his medical degree at Penn Med.

••• Vicki L. Haak, a village of Rhinebeck resident and business owner, received the honor of being selected to speak at the Barron’s Independen­t Women Summit from May 15-17.

The profession­al developmen­t conference, which was held at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, attracted over 150 female profession­als from throughout the United States. The topic of Haak’s panel discussion was “Exceptiona­l Experience: Creating Unique and Defined Value for Your Clients.” Haak is a certi- fied financial planner with Ameriprise Financial Services. Haak has served in a number of leadership roles, including as former president of Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of Winnakee Land Trust, Morton Memorial Library, and Center for Performing Arts. Haak has also served on the Wilderstei­n Business Advisory Council and has supported Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill, Art Studio Views, Rhinebeck Science Foundation, and a number of other community-based initiative­s.

••• Stephanie Hope of Kingston was awarded the 2019 Bea Alley Commemorat­ive Scholarshi­p at the AHNA 39th Annual Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 6.

Hope currently practices as a certified nurse coach and is a doctor of nursing practice student at the University of Minnesota in the specialty of integrativ­e health and healing. She previously worked in the fields of oncology and hospice, and served as a study guide for the NYU Psilocybin Cancer Anxiety Study.

She lives in Kingston, where she serves on the Live Well Kingston city commission for health and wellness.

••• Ten Broeck Center for Rehabilita­tion & Nursing, a nursing and rehabilita­tion facility in Lake Katrine, announced the winners of its Shining Stars of Service Award, which recognizes employees who pro

vide outstandin­g customer service to residents and family members.

Employees are nominated through letters written by residents and their family members. The winners are Ann Avella of Saugerties; Jennifer Blasso of Kingston; Barbara Dyer of Ulster Park; Vivian Taveras of Lake Katrine; and Curtis Viens of Clifton Park.

••• Ann Ruecker of Athens has joined Weichert, Realtors Fontaine & Associates’ Athens office as a real estate salesperso­n.

Ruecker will be assisting home buyers and sellers in Green and Columbia counties and surroundin­g areas with all of their real estate needs.

Ruecker currently works as an adjunct psychology professor at both Marist College and Hudson Valley Community College, which she will continue to do while working in real estate.

Ruecker holds multiple degrees, including a bachelor’s degree from Boston University, a master’s degree from the CUNY Graduate Center, and a master of public administra­tion degree from Baruch College.

••• Nadia Rajsz, Sullivan County District 2 Legislator, was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of Ulster County Community Action Committee beginning in June 21, representi­ng Sullivan County. UCCAC is a not-for-profit in Ulster County dedicated to assisting the disadvanta­ged in the community.
