Mid-Hudson Rebels Red 14U wins tourney
The Mid-Hudson Rebels Red 14-andunder softball team won its second straight tournament championship, this time taking the School’s Out Bash.
The Rebels went 5-0 in winning the Gold Division. They routed the CNY Elite White 23-1, the Saber Pride 21-3 and the Upstate Young Guns 14-0 in pool play. They defeated the Northern Columbia Chaos Cryptonite 12-2 in the semifinals, then topped the NYS Misfits 10-1 for the title.
Trista Lukaszewski led the way, tossing a threeinning no-hitter in the truncated win over the Young Guns. She struck out eight. Lukaszewski and Ava Del Salto each won two games, while Abby Kemp won one.
Barrett Holsapple’s four singles led the win over the Elite White. She drove in 14 runs in the tourney on five singles, four doubles and a triple. Gigi Koch had 13 RBIs on five singles, four doubles and a homer. Both scored nine times. Cady Sickler reached base and scored 13 times. She had four four singles, four doubles, two triples and drew three walks. She also had five RBIs.
Other big offensive contributions for the Rebels were Rachl Hoyt (four singles, two doubles, seven RBI, six runs), Gianna Tisch (three singles, two doubles, seven RBIs, six runs), Emma Haller (eight singles, double, six RBIs, nine runs), Kemp (two singles, two doubles, six RBIs, six runs), McKenna Fairley (four singles, two doubles, two triples, five RBIs, eight runs), Lukaszewski (three singles, double, five RBIs, four runs), Audrey Werba (four singles, double, four RBIs, seven runs) and Del Salto (two singles, two RBI, three RBIs).
The Rebels Red now have an overall record of 34-8-1.
