Bridge Street Theatre hosts free screening
WHAT: Free screening of “The Adventures of Prince Achmed” WHEN: Saturday, July 6, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Bridge Street Theatre Speakeasy, 44 W. Bridge St., Catskill
DETAILS: German animator Lotte Reiniger’s “The Adventures of Prince Achmed” (1926), based on tales from “The Arabian Nights,” tells the story of Prince Achmed, who is tricked by a wicked sorcerer into mounting a magical flying horse. The prince foils the sorcerer and soars headlong into a series of adventures, joining forces with Aladdin and the Witch of the Fiery Mountains, battling the sorcerer’s army of monsters and demons, and falling in love with Princess Peri Banu. Admission is free.

WHAT: Presentation for the book, “Uptown Kingston: Looking Back, Moving Forward Book” WHEN: Monday, July 8, at 7 p.m.

DETAILS: Enjoy a lively multimedia talk about Uptown Kingston with tons of historic photographs, “then & now” comparisons and lesserknown anecdotes. The event will feature local historians, filmmakers and authors Stephen Blauweiss and Karen Berelowitz, with opportunities to sponsor the project for printed recognition in the book and a free copy.
