Anthony L. ‘Tony’ Amato, 48, of Saugerties

SAUGERTIES >> Anthony L. “Tony” Amato died Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Hospice at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. He was 48 years old.

Born Nov. 16, 1970, in Kingston, he was the son of Marilyn Crismond Amato and the late Peter Amato. On Aug. 26, 2000, he married the former Sherri Bolde.

Well-known for organizing and being a part of many local benefits, Tony played the bass guitar and over the years was a member of several area bands, including Burning Cold, The Standard Assault, Groove Tool, and Head Stomp Syndicate. He was an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. His favorite pastime was wood cutting and was often noted on social media for his broad interest, knowledge and activity.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sherri Bolde Amato; two children, Natasha Bolde-Nakapaahu and her husband James of Glasco and Anthony J. Amato, at home; three brothers, Peter and Akiko of Gainesvill­e, Fla., John and Jane of Saugerties, and Michael and Trisha of Kingston; by several nieces and nephews; and by many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was predecease­d by his father, Peter, in 2003, and by his brother, Chuck, in 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Buono Funeral Service Inc., Saugerties, N.Y. Interment will follow immediatel­y at St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery, Barclay Heights, Saugerties. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at Buono Funeral Service Inc.
