Yes, Israel influences US political system

-

Dear Editor: Re: Susan Puretz’s letter, “Anti-Semitic letter writer hides behind criticism of Israel”: She creates a complete fiction, then proceeds to lambaste Fred Nagel for having written that fiction (LETTER: Israel’s insidious influence on US foreign policy).

Mr. Nagel’s letter referred to was, in fact, based upon easily documented reality. Israel DOES have undue influence on the American political system (so much more than Russia). Israel isn’t called out like all other nations of the world for its daily violation of international law (blockade of Gaza; defiance of U.N. resolutions demanding Israel remove itself from the occupied territories of the West Bank and Gaza), nor its daily violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention (re the “legitimizing” and building more of illegal settlements), nor its illegal nuclear weapons program that has missile delivery capability — all done without Israel being a signatory of the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) or a member of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).

Ms. Puretz stacks up trope after trope in hopes of creating an avalanche to bury the truth contained in Mr. Nagel’s letter.

What the letter writer has done here is to add to the myth of Israel. American Jews have learned the myth well and always react when that myth is shown to be fiction. Israel has become, by definition, an apartheid state actively engaged in continued land theft and murder of the indigenous population. The real wonder is that many of the so-called liberal voices we see on these pages just can’t admit to Israel’s obvious perfidy.
