PORT EWEN, N.Y. >> Esopus Town Board members on Dec. 3 will have the first of a series of presentations about work being proposed for six priority areas where stormwater drainage issues pose serious problems for property owners.

The presentations were discussed during a meeting Tuesday. Supervisor Shannon Harris said residents in each area will be invited to hear the reports and make comments on recommended by officials.

“We would invite our highway superintendent, our stormwater officer and the Water and Sewer Department personnel ... and report their plan for how to implement the stormwater recommendations,” she said.

Board members in August were given a $3.55 million estimate for priority projects that would need to be done if officials wanted to resolved the municipality’s most-pressing storm drainage problems.

Harris on Tuesday said the projects will need to be done within the confines of the town budget over several years.

“On Dec. 3 we’ll lay out a roadmap for which areas they’ll tackle first, based on the priorities ... and recommendations in the report,” she said. “They will move from priority zone to priority zone.”

Areas considered to be priorities include:

• Eight properties on Hasbrouck Avenue, Schryver Street, Horton Lane, Sunset Drive and Sentar Lane, where flooding is caused by 2,200 feet of undersized pipes.

• Three properties on Park Lane Doris Street and West Stout Lane, where 1,125 feet of pipe needs to be replaced and a 4,000 cubic foot bioretention basin is recommended for installation.

• Four properties on Tilden Street, where a catch basin would be installed.

• Five properties on Lindorf Street and Rogers Street, where about 750 of undersized pipes would be replaced.

• Four properties on Clay Road, with about 200 feet of pipes would be replaced and a vegetated swale would be installed to redirect storm water.

• Five properties on Valley Road and Highland Road, with 775 feet of undersized pipe replaced.
