Some area communities set curfews; rain could dampen trick-or-treating
Thursday is Halloween. Here’s a rundown of curfews in local communities.
Ulster County
(Towns not listed could not be reached for curfew information.)
Esopus: 7 p.m. for all ages.
Ellenville: 8:30 p.m. for ages 18 and under. Gardiner: No curfew. Hurley: 8 p.m. for children under 16 without an adult.
Kingston (city): 8 p.m. for ages 16 and under. Lloyd: No curfew. Marbletown: 9 p.m. for ages 18 and under without an adult.
New Paltz (town): No curfew.
New Paltz (village): 10 p.m. for ages 17 and under.
Olive: 8 p.m. for ages 16 and under. Plattekill: No curfew. Rochester: No curfew. Rosendale: 8:30 p.m. for ages 18 and under.
Saugerties (town and village): 8 p.m. for ages 17 and under.
Shandaken: 9 p.m. for ages 18 and under.
Town of Ulster: 8 p.m. for ages 16 and under.
Woodstock: No curfew.
Northern Dutchess
No curfews in Hyde Park, Red Hook, Rhinebeck or Tivoli.
Greene County
Catskill (village): 9 p.m. Oct. 31 to 6 a.m. Nov. 1 for ages 17 and under unless accompanied by parent, legal guardian or other person over 21 and improved by a parent.

Even before the curfews take effect, though, would be trick-or-treaters might be discouraged from making their annual rounds due to the weather.
As of Tuesday evening, the National Weather Service forecast for Halloween in the Mid-Hudson Valley was a fright to behold: a 90 percent chance of rain during day on Thursday, with up to half an inch possible, and a high temperature of 68; and a 100% chance of rain at night, with up to an inch possible, and a low temperature around 50.
