Area business people ‘On the Move’

René Antrop-González has been appointed as new dean of education at SUNY New Paltz, effective June 15, 2020.

As the chief academic and administra­tive officer of the School of Education, Antrop-González will mentor and support department chairs; evaluate and develop faculty and recruit new faculty; support and initiate regional partnershi­ps; and coordinate with faculty to promote innovative programs responsive to the needs of the region. He will also manage the School’s budget and engage in external fundraisin­g, oversee accreditat­ion procedures; and implement SUNY and State Education Department policies.

Antrop-González, who joined Metropolit­an State University in 2015 as dean of the School of Urban Education, serves as director of university graduate programs. In this leadership role, he collaborat­es with colleagues across the University to develop and revise policies and procedures and provide recommenda­tions for strategies to enhance graduate program visibility and enrollment­s.

Prior to his tenure at Metropolit­an State University, he was professor and Goizueta Foundation Chair in Education at Dalton State College (2013-2015). Antrop-González also held several positions within the Second Language Education area of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2001-2013), including professor of curriculum and instructio­n and program coordinato­r of second language education.

He holds a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in Spanish from the University of Central Florida; a master’s degree, magna cum laude, in Teaching English as a Second Language from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico; and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instructio­n with an emphasis in Bilingual Education from Pennsylvan­ia State University. Kevin Flood, a former executive with the Coca-Cola

Bottling System, has been named Chief Operating Officer of Woodstock-based Segue Cloud Services, a provider of cloud-based litigation finance management tools for the legal community.

Flood has served in several exec- utive positions at Coca-Cola for more than two decades, including General Manager of Southern California, Vice President of Sales and Operations for the West Region, and Vice President of the New York Market Unit. In his capacity at Segue, Flood will work with the organizati­on’s leadership team as the company expands its geographic and services footprint. Sean Warman, of Rhinebeck, NY, has been named Alpine Race Director at Windham Mountain.

Warman has more than 30 years of experience directing programs and training athletes at the highest level of the sport, including work as a multi-year US Ski Team skills developmen­t guest coach, PSIA National Alpine Team advanced educator, demo team coach and selector, USSA National Coach Academy, and 9 summers in Portillo, Chile.

His coaching history includes stops at Heavenly, Crested Butte, Sierra at Tahoe, Northstar, Hunter Mountain and West Mountain. Ulster County Community Action Committee, a not-for-profit in Ulster County, dedicated to assisting the disadvanta­ged, has announced that Sylvia Donaldson has been added to the Board of Directors, replacing Larry Kithcart, an appointmen­t position by the Ulster County Legislatur­e.

In addition, Rosalinda Perez was elected to serve as Treasurer for the Board. Ryan Scott of Saugerties had been named as a new member of the Columbia Memorial Health Foundation board of trustees, the philanthro­pic arm of Columbia Memorial Health.

elor of science degree in chemistry from the State University of New York at New Paltz in 1996.

Scott is the general manager at Pro Printers, a family-owned business in Hudson, which his father founded 30 years ago. Under his leader- ship, Pro Printers has won numerous awards for best business practices, including “Highest Customer Loyalty Award” by Survey Advantage for the second quarter of 2019 and “Best Graphic Design Company” in the 2019 Best of Columbia County Awards sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and ColumbiaGr­eene Media.

He is active in the business community and is a

member of four regional Chambers of Commerce, including Columbia, Greene, Ulster and New Paltz. Additional­ly, Scott has served as a member of the Hudson Rotary Club for five years, including two as president.

He is married to Kari, the co-owner and production manager at Pro Printers. They have two children, Libby, 18, and Ryan Junior, 16.

••• Jennifer Welles is the new executive director of Newburgh Community Land Bank.

Welles brings with her 19 years of experience with the Northern Manhattan Improvemen­t Corporatio­n. In her capacity there she concentrat­ed on home ownership and cooperativ­e business initiative­s. The multi-year projects she has spearheade­d involved working with New York City, New York

State and private lenders. She was in charge of renovation planning and oversight, and ongoing trainings for tenants interested in home ownership.
